The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places.~Ernest Hemingway

Meditation Thirty

In the coming world, they will not ask me, ‘Why were you not Moses?’ They will ask me, ‘Why were you not Zusya?’

~Zusya

Recovery is more than getting over and through circumstances. It’s a process of rebuilding our selves and resuming our natural course.

How do you do that? How do you grow your own way if you’ve lost the blueprint? Misplaced the map?

Improvise. And become willing to learn to trust your instincts.

Look to those you admire, to your heroes. Identify what it is about them that speaks to the hero in you.

Listen for direction from within. Heed your inner champion—the part of you that won’t give up.

What do you hope for? What do you feel strongly, deeply, perhaps passionately about? Take one small step today to bring it into the open. It might seem risky. Dare it anyway. For you, and for the rest of us, recover. Grow your own way.

Today I am closer to the truth of who I am and where I’m headed. I’ve seen it in my heroes. I’m finding it in me.
